Polyester

Polyester

Polyester is a very common synthetic fibre that is both strong and elastic. For example, fleece is usually made of polyester which has been shaped to contain a lot of air and thus provide exceptional thermal insulation properties.

Key Properties

Durability : Resistant to abrasions, tears, and general wear, ensuring long-lasting use.

Lightweight : Adds minimal bulk, making gloves comfortable for extended wear.

Moisture-Wicking : Quickly wicks sweat and moisture away from the skin, keeping hands dry.

Elasticity and Flexibility : Provides a snug fit, maintaining dexterity for precision tasks.

Quick-Drying : Dries rapidly after washing or exposure to moisture.

Weather Resistance : Performs well in damp conditions, resisting water absorption and maintaining flexibility.

Limitations
Heat Resistance : Melts or deforms at high temperatures, limiting its use in high-heat environments like welding.

Limited Abrasion Resistance : Less durable than materials like Kevlar® or PVC in heavy-duty applications.

Environmental Impact : Non-biodegradable and derived from petroleum.

Applications

Industrial Gloves : Frequently used as a liner in knitted assembly gloves or in cut and sewn gloves for added comfort.

Sports and Outdoor Gloves : Ideal for gloves used in biking, hiking, and other active pursuits due to its breathability and moisture management.
