All safety gloves must comply with EN420 - General requirements. This general standard regulates the minimum requirements for a glove. The exceptions are anti-static gloves and disposable gloves for medical use.

The requirements can be summarized as follows:

1. The gloves should be effective for it’s purpose
2. The construction of the glove and its materials must be safe for the user
3. Sizes and measurements of the glove must fulfill the standard norms of hand sizes
4. The pH should be between 3.5 and 9.5 and chromium content should be less than 3 mg / kg

These are the requirements for the labeling:

Manufacturer’s name
Name of the model and/or article number
Size
CE Marking

1. For Category II and III gloves must also have pictograms showing type of risk that gloves are tested against with reference to EN standard and protective levels the gloves attain.
2. For Category III gloves, the CE mark also accompanied by the identification number of the responsible supervisory authority.
